Dachshund Puppies

Dachshund puppies are very popular due to their affectionate and playful nature and diminutive size.  However, Dachshunds may not make the best choice for families with small children as they sometimes snap.  The Dachshund originated from Germany as a hunting dog and is known for its digging affinity and keen sense of smell.  Dachshunds are bold and stubborn and can be loud.  Dachshunds come in a variety of flavors - short-haired, long-haired and wire-haired varieties and standard and miniature sizes.  Thus their adult height and weight varies considerably though they are consistently a smaller breed.  While Dachshunds make good indoor pets, Dachshunds  need regular exercise and due to their small size and long body, care should be taken to ensure that they are not stepped on.  The long body also contributes to potential spinal problems along with heart disease and diabetes.  The following videos illustrate several examples of Dachshund puppies.
